In part due to the efforts of FLARA an Alum treatment was applied to the lake in 2018 and 2019. Alum (aluminum sulfate) is a non toxic compound that binds to phosphorus thereby making it unavailable for excessive algae growth and increasing visibility.  As the data in the chart below shows the phosphorus and chlorophyll  in the lake was reduced, and the water clarity improved.
